若狭塗箸
History
More than 400 years traditinal crafts
"Wakasa" is a region in the southwest part of Fukui Prefecture.
Wakasa lacquer chopsticks (Wakasa-nuri-bashi) are one of Japan's traditional crafts dating back to the early Edo period (1603~1690) in Obama City, Fukui.
The feudal lords at that time promoted Wakasa-nuri as the main industry to support the finances of the Wakasa region, and as a result, many excellent craftsmen were nurtured.
New Value
Traditional but Modern and Confortable
Our manufacturing plant was founded in 1920 in Wakasa.
They retains traditional Wakasa lacquering while creating new value by using the latest machinery and enduring craftsmanship.
Our chopsticks are traditional, but modern and comfortable
-- tools to make your dining experience enriched and joyful.
Delicate attention to detail
We custom make chopsticks to meet everyone's needs.
Each chopstick is made after investigating best materials, designs and sensations on your hands and mouth.
For example, the tip of the chopstick is coated with lacquer, has a moderate angle, and doesn’t slip.
In addition, the shape is pentagonal, which not only fits expertly in the hand, but also holds food well.
